Ruana Camel

$626.00

This Ruana (poncho split in front) was woven at an altitude of 4000 m in Peru according to ancestral traditions by a community of women living in the Cordillera with their herd of alpacas. Each year, before summer arrives, these Aymara women shear 3 kilos of wool per animal (3 threads - weight 650gr.).

The wool is then hand-spun before being woven on ancient wooden treadle looms in the purest ancestral tradition of poncho weaving. The color of the ponchos is pure; there are 22 shades of alpaca fleece.

The poncho HAND.SO.ON is a rare, authentic piece, full of history, a piece designed in a noble material thanks to the know-how of these women who preserve the gestures of yesteryear.

Hand-treated alpaca fiber is soft and voluptuous, with a voluptuous "fall" and no pilling, unlike cashmere, which has a softer texture.

A beauty, a garment, a stole you never part with.

No dyes have been used, so there may be some nuances and irregularities due to the hand-weaving process.

This poncho/ ruana measures 85 cm high and 62 cm wide from collar to wrist.
