LMP Poncho Grey Charcoal

$651.00

This poncho was hand-woven in Peru according to ancestral traditions by a community of women who live in the Andes mountains at an altitude of 4,000 m with their herd of alpacas. Each year, before summer arrives, these Aymara women shear and harvest 3 kilos of wool per animal (3 threads - weight 650gr.).

The wool is then hand-spun before being woven on ancient wooden treadle looms dating back over 500 years, in the purest ancestral tradition of poncho weaving. The color of the ponchos is pure, no dyes are used; there are 22 shades of alpaca fleece, but 6 main ones that HAND.SO.ON exploits.

The poncho HAND.SO.ON is a rare, authentic piece, full of history, a piece designed in a noble material thanks to the know-how of these women who preserve the gestures of yesteryear.

Hand-treated alpaca fiber is soft and voluptuous, with a voluptuous "fall" and no pilling, unlike cashmere, which has a softer texture.

A beauty, a garment, a stole you never part with.

No dyes have been used, so there may be some nuances and irregularities due to the hand-weaving process.

This poncho/ ruana measures 85 cm high and 62 cm wide from collar to wrist.
