Ruana OND 5 sons Camel

$796.00

This 5-thread Ruana (poncho split in front) was woven at an altitude of 4000 m in Peru according to ancestral traditions by a community of women living in the Cordillera with their herd of alpacas. Each year, before summer arrives, these Aymara women shear 3 kilos of wool per animal (5 threads - weight 850gr.).

The wool is then hand-spun before being woven on antique wooden treadle looms in the purest ancestral tradition of poncho weaving.

The HAND.SO.ON ruana is a rare, authentic piece steeped in history, designed in a noble material thanks to the know-how of these women who preserve the gestures of yesteryear.

Hand-treated alpaca fiber is soft, has a "voluptuous fall" and, unlike cashmere with its softer texture, does not pilling.

A beauty, a garment, a stole you never part with.

No dyes have been added, so there may be some nuances and irregularities due to the hand-weaving process. The color of the ponchos is pure; there are 22 shades of alpaca fleece.

This poncho/ ruana measures 75 cm high and 62 cm wide from collar to wrist.
